Banners and mash

This is a collection of some of the banner animations I've created over the last 10 years. They represent a broad audience over several industries, and while this showreel is designed to show off the actual animation, these banners all had unique challenges in pushing the medium and delivering to spec while maintaining the punch of the message.

Clients include The Sun, The Guardian, eBay, Virgin, SanDisk and Accor and Novotel Hotel groups. All banners were done in 2D, in Adobe Flash / Animate or in HTML5. Original size is often 300x250px (standard MPU banner) and then rolled out to various standard banner sizes, or adapted to social media, OOH and mobile formats.

1) News UK / The Sun newspaper group. Sunday Times Driving, UFC and The Sun motors, among many others. Key visuals supplied by the design team at Tag, storyboard and animation concepts produced and executed by me.

2) The Guardian newspaper. BHF, HSBC and Avios. Key visuals were supplied by the Guardian, while I created the storyboard, vector illustrations and the final animation. Creating the illustration as vectors meant that the file size could be kept to a minimum for faster loading. Banners rolled out to standard sizes.

3) Various other agencies. Beats by Dr Dre banner for Dixons travel, advertising a competition to win a pair of headphones. Concept by studio, animation and roll-out by me. Shake it up concept banner for the YCN (Young Creatives Network) Professional awards: The physical award for 2013 was a snow globe filled with glitter, and YCN wanted to use a video of the glitter swirling around in the globe, but didn't have a video banner campaign set up. Madnella proposed this as an alternative - illustrated from scratch, with ActionScript to control the glitter particles. File size was kept well below maximum, and the effect is much more controllable, with sharper visuals. The Nether theatre production for the YCN.
